GPC Experience
I joined the GPC right after attending the 2006 Convention in Ottawa as an observer. On the drive back home I decided to get in touch with my EDA to see what I could do to help at the local level. I contributed to restarting an EDA that had been relatively strong before but that had also been over burdened with frequent, yearly elections including 2 by-elections. I still remain very much involved locally for both the Provincial and Federal parties today.
Candidate I twice ran as the candidate for Dufferin-Caledon, ON. In 2008 our campaign achieved 17% of the vote, the sixth best GPC result in Canada. In 2011 we achieved 14.6% of the vote, the fourth best GPC result with the distinction of being the only riding in Canada to post a second place finish.
Shadow cabinet In March 2009 I became the Shadow Cabinet Finance Critic. My most significant contribution was to help put together and find consensus for our election platform budget.
Federal council In September 2009 I was invited to join a planning committee now known as the Annual Planning and Budget Committee (APBC). As a consequence of becoming chair of that committee a few months later I also became an ex-officio member of Federal Council. I've fully participated in all Council communications, discussions and operations since that time. Since September of 2011 I've served in the position of VP English.
